Distributed Temperature Sensing
Distributed Temperature Sensing Systems (DTS) are optoelectronic devices which measure temperatures by means of optical fibres functioning as linear sensors. Temperatures are recorded along the optical sensor cable, thus not at points, but as a continuous profile.
Measuring Principle - OFDR Technology
For the locally distributed measurement of the Raman scattered light (DTS) one requires a high performance optical backscatter process. Compared to the Rayleigh scattered light, the Raman scattered light measurement displays a backscatter signal which is smaller by a factor of 1000.
Measuring Principle - Raman Effect
The optical waveguides are made of doped quartz glass. Quartz glass is a form of SiO2 with amorphic solid-state structure. Heat induces grid oscillation in the solid state.
Superior Technology and Industrial Strength
The OFDR technology - with its approved optical components from the telecom industry - enables to provide sophisticated fibre optic Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) surveillance at commodity prices.
